Chrono Warfare Tower Defense Towers & Roles

Every unit is a job on the timeline—pick the role your lane is missing.

Towers Hub

In Chrono Warfare Tower Defense, towers are your roster. BoringGames Studio built the sequel to Evolution Evade around time-travel anomalies, but the moment-to-moment skill loop is classic TD: read the wave, spend wisely, upgrade on time, and cover the path. This hub explains how units fit together so you stop buying duplicates and start covering gaps.

Deep dives live in child pages: Eras & Maps for where each tower set matters, Anomalies Guide for what you are shooting, and Controls & UI for placement speed. For power rankings, cross-link to Tier List Hub and Beginner Loadouts.

The four roles you should track

DPS (direct damage)

DPS towers turn cash into consistent output along a lane. Archers, hunters, slingers, and similar units usually excel at single-target pressure or steady pierce depending on map layout. They want range bands that overlap without wasting shots on the same enemy. Stack DPS when you know the path length supports full uptime; spread DPS when anomalies split or accelerate mid-lane.

Economy (cash and tempo)

Economy towers—or upgrades that behave like income—decide whether you can afford mid-wave fixes. Under-investing here is the most common reason teams lose boss waves while sitting on open grid slots. Pair economy with one early DPS anchor so you are not bankrupt during wave three. Re-check income values in the live shop; unfinished builds have adjusted payouts before.

Support (range, buffs, control)

Support units extend other towers: campfires, banners, slows, or aura-style buffs that multiply value instead of adding raw hits. They look weak in solo screenshots but raise the ceiling of every neighbor. Support shines on maps with limited real estate where you must make five slots perform like eight.

Tank-ish placement (blocking and choke holding)

Some units act like soft tanks—not by absorbing damage for the base, but by holding space: melee riders, short-range bruisers, or units that stall fast anomalies in a kill box. These picks need deliberate placement at bends. Misplacing them creates dead zones where ranged towers cannot fire.

Building a coherent six-slot mindset

Even if your lobby allows more towers, think in sets of six responsibilities:

  1. One economy or discount enabler
  2. Two lane DPS with different range profiles
  3. One swarm or pierce answer
  4. One support multiplier
  5. One flexible slot for bosses or air anomalies

Swap the flex slot when Era Tower Rankings suggests a map-specific carry. Pack Hunter-style quest towers belong in the flex slot until you know the quest route—see Eras & Maps.

Live verification checklist

Because the Roblox listing still marks Chrono Warfare as unfinished, treat any fan stat sheet as a hypothesis:

  • Open the tower panel and note unlock requirements before farming
  • Fire one test round in a low-stakes lobby to see attack pattern (splash, pierce, summon)
  • Compare upgrade tiers—some towers spike at tier two, others at max
  • After patches listed in Patch Notes Guide, replay one known wave set

Chrono Warfare is online multiplayer on Roblox—coordinate with squadmates so roles do not overlap. When in doubt, bring coverage over hype: a balanced timeline beats a single overfed tower.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Chrono Warfare Tower Defense players.

Why is this category called Players in the files but Towers in navigation?

The wiki template uses the players category for unit rosters. For Chrono Warfare, every entry documents towers rather than avatars.

Are Evolution Evade towers identical?

No. Chrono Warfare is the official successor, not a canon continuation. Names and roles may echo Stone Age classics, but unlocks and balance are separate.

How do I know if a tower is economy or support?

Read its upgrade text in-game. If it primarily generates cash or discounts purchases, treat it as economy. If it buffs neighbors or extends range, treat it as support.
